Dr. Hocagil completed his undergraduate studies in Chemistry at Ege University in 2005. He earned a Master of Management degree from Cambridge College in 2010 and a PhD in Organizational Management under the Global Leadership Program at Indiana Institute of Technology in 2020. Dr. Hocagil has over a decade of management experience, having worked in various organizations in both the United States and Canada.
In 2022, he joined Wilfrid Laurier University (Waterloo, ON, Canada) and in 2023 Conestoga College (Kitchener, ON, Canada) as a contract faculty member. Since then, he has taught a wide range of undergraduate and graduate-level courses in the business faculties of these universities, including Management and Leadership Skills, Introduction to Business, Human Resources Management, Recruitment and Selection, Decision Making for Managers (MBA), Organizational Behavior (MBA), Leadership and Team Building, and Organizational Behavior II (Organization Theory).
Dr. Hocagil began serving as a part-time faculty member at OSTİM Technical University’s Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences in September 2023, and as of January 2025, he has been appointed as an Assistant Professor at the faculty.
His research interests include Global Leadership and Followership, Management, Organizational Behavior, Internationalization, and Multinational Organizations. He has served as the Chair of the Followership Member Community of the International Leadership Association and as a board member of the Teaching Followers Courage organization, which supports academics and consultants in integrating leadership and followership into research, curriculum, workshops, and organizational culture.
Additionally, Dr. Hocagil volunteered in the organization of the First and Second Annual Global Followership Conferences held in Canada and the United States, and he is currently serving as the Research Session Chair of the 4th Annual Global Followership Conference in 2025.
